I wasn't eavesdropping.
I was on the top floor of the Hyatt lounge overlooking Saudi Arabia, sitting at one of the tables, chomping on some food, headphones in, deep in my work.
But the two founders nearby were talking loud enough that pulling them out felt less like a choice and more like an obligation.
So I listened.
They were breaking down China's acceleration — infrastructure, technology, economic momentum moving faster than most Western headlines bother to cover.
Where capital is actually flowing versus where people assume it's flowing.
The whole board, not just one corner of it.
And then one of them mentioned America heading toward an economic crisis.
I didn't flinch.
We're always in some version of a crisis. That's not new.
What's new is how many people keep getting surprised by it — because they're only watching one market and calling it a strategy.
It's not a strategy. It's a tunnel.
Sitting there 30 floors up watching that skyline, it hit me — those two founders weren't panicking. They were positioned. Because they stopped picking stocks and started thinking in systems.
Don't invest in one thing. Invest in a system.
Finance: Most people pick stocks. Smarter people pick sectors. The ones winning pick systems — understanding how everything connects and moves together. Stop asking "what should I invest in" and start asking "what is the world actually being built on right now." That's a different question. It leads to different answers. The founders in that room weren't talking about one company. They were talking about the whole board.
Fitness: The body works the same way. Most people treat symptoms in isolation — the aching back, the tight shoulder, the nagging knee. They never look at the system. Pain is rarely where the problem lives. It's downstream of something quieter. Pay attention to the whole body. The part that's silent is usually the part running the show.
